I'm interested to know your thoughts:
The report basically says you need to start at stage 1 and move through stage 6 to get adoption and mature the intranet in an organization. Do believe this is true or do you think that a well planed intranet can start at one of the later stages perhaps stage 4?
Well that wasn't my interpretation, per se. However, I don't think you need to have stage 3 before you can move to collaboration and 2.0. Yes, an intranet needs a plan and proper governance, before you move to 2.0, but you don't have to become a portal and have employee self-service before you can move to collaboration and 2.0. I don't agree with everything in the report, though I do agree with many of the conclusions about the future of intranets.
