As I understand it, RedDot CMS uses RedDot Liveserver to manage personalization. This review of RedDot (http://reddot-cms.blogspot.com) doesn't present LiveServer in a pretty light. Is it accurate?
Sorry – the URL in the previous post was wrong. I meant this RedDot CMS and LiveServer Review
RedDot is a CMS leader and has many, many customers. However, often another company or partner will implement the system on a client's behalf. Its not unusual for their to be a lot of customizations in such an implementation that could cause future problems if not done well. So, I can't speak on behalf of a specific implementation or client as I'm not the one using it. Some client like RedDot, others do not. For a large enteprise intranet, RedDot is often not appropirate. Its better for smaller, simpler projects. The bigger and more complex, the less appropriate RedDot may be.
In short, RedDot will work for some websites and intranets, but many others could benefit from another solution.
However, every organization's needs is different. In determining which CMS is best for your organization there are hundreds of requirements and variables that have to be considered including the technology, its ability to integrate with other applications, its usability, the financial stability of the vendor, the partner and teams skills of those implementing the system, etc. This is one of the reasons we at Prescient Digital Media make a living helping clients decide which is the best CMS or portal solution for their intranet. Our CMS evalatuion matrix weighs and scores hundreds of criteria… check out the CMS Blueprint.
